James D Kirk is Boldly Going! Are you?: My Notebook is Dead, Long Live My Netbook

I thought about upgrading mine to 2GB, but to be honest I've got on fine with just 1GB... Doesn't really seem to make much diference. Not exactly expensive to upgrade though!! Suppose it depends if you are using windows or linux.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, fireengineering! I have seen a ton of difference in how a machine performs when adding additional RAM. Plus, I've been building desktop computers for about 10 years now, and the single cheapest investment for boosting performance has always been to add more RAM. But you're right, for the low cost of the additional RAM, why not do it? The machine holds 2 GB, so I figure, why not use up the space?!

    Thanks for your comment!

Well, the first and hopefully last, snafu has occurred with the ordering process. I must admit up front I could have "probably" caught this one prior to it getting to this point. When I ordered the RAM from Amazon.com, I know for certain that I choose the 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM. Apparently, somehow they switched that order with the inferior version they sell, the DDR2-667 model. Because I failed to notice it (if, in fact, it was on the initial pages at all) I submitted the order. This morning I had notice of shipping from the third party supplier, and I immediately noticed the discrepancy.

I'm guessing I'll have to wait for the 667 RAM to get here, send that back, and wait for the 800 RAM to arrive later. ARGH! Oh well, lesson learned. Plus, the netbook does have a 1GB bit of RAM in it, so not like I won't be able to start using it. So, looking on the bright side of this "challenge" I'll have a much better feel for just how much of a difference the addition of 1GB of RAM will make to the computer.

I am still going to try a netbook but the thing is unless it has stereo bluetooth then I might as well stick with my old notebook. I really want to try these budgoblue. These are the latest and coolest bluetooth headsets man I want to get this combo. It would be perfect for traveling plus iwould not have to carry any chargers for the headsets.

Sounds intriguing, Mika. I'll look forward to seeing what they have to offer when they are out and available.
